Work method statement
for Prime Coat.
1.
Prior to laying of Bituminous Prime coat all
intended roadbase surface shall be clean from dirt and loose material.
2.
The road surface finishing shall be first been
approved for compliance in accordance to drawings and specification by Resident
Engineer.
3.
Laying of prime coat shall be done by method of
spraying thoroughly on the approved Roadbase surface.
4.
Contractor shall maintained the bituminous prime
coat temperature during spraying activities at a range of 50 deg. Celsius – 70 deg.
Celsius for cut back bitumen, 25 deg.
Celsius to 45 deg. Celsius for bitumen emulsion and 150 deg. Celsius to 165
deg. Celsius for 80-100 penetration grade bitumen.
5.
The spraying rate or rate of application shall
be at a range of 0.5liter to 1.0 litre / square meter.
6.
The area sprayed with bituminous material shall
not be open to public for at least 24 hour after application.
7.
Laying of prime coat shall be witness by
Resident Engineer or his representative.
8.
There shall be not bituminous material being
discharge into road drains, stream or river.
Work Method Statement
for laying of Asphaltic concrete.
1.
The laying of Asphaltic concrete shall only start after 24 hours of bituminous
prime coat application.
2.
The laying of asphaltic concrete shall be done
only during fine weather and the intended surface shall also dry or as
permitted by the Resident Engineer or his representatives.
3.
All surface that intended to received Asphaltic
concrete must first being check for any damage or deterioration. If such defect
was found out, it shall be rectified before laying of the Asphaltic Concrete.
4.
Delivered asphaltic mix shall be check for its temperature.
The temperature Shall within the range of 140 deg. Celsius to 160 deg. Celsius.
5.
The compaction of the Asphaltic concrete by
rolling method shall commence as soon as possible after laying.
6.
Compaction shall be carried out by using Steel
wheel roller as initial rolling followed by Pneumatic tyred roller.
7.
The final rolling shall again be carried out
using steel wheel roller.
8.
All rolling shall be done in longitudinal
direction.
9.
The laid layer of ACB 28 shall have a thickness
of 50mm thick with allowance of -5mm thickness.
10.
Laying of Asphaltic concrete (where applicable),
eg. Superelevation location, and on carriageway with cross-slope, shall start
at the lower level towards the highest level. Laying shall not be carried out
in a downhill direction.
11.
The section where Asphaltic concrete were laid, shall
not be open to traffic for at least 4 hours after the commencement of rolling.
12.
During the course of Asphaltic concrete laying
activity, All necessary sign shall be erected
at both end of the intended work to notify public on the ongoing construction
activities to prevent unwanted incident.
13.
Within 24 Hours after completion of the Laying
works, Coring test shall be perform at selected location as required by
Resident Engineer to verify the thickness of the ACB 28 Layer and the
compaction density. The required compaction density for ACB28 shall be in the
range of 95% to 100% Marshall density.
